PLEDGE Academy

Calling all graduates and alumni of our PLEDGE (Partnering to Lead and Empower District-Grown Educators) cohorts and PLEDGE LEAP (Licensed Educator Accelerated Program) cohorts! 

The College of Education is pleased to offer a free continuing professional development event for you to explore current education topics influencing special education, early childhood and elementary education teachers. Participants will have significant opportunities to engage with experts and other teachers to discuss challenges and reflect on their current teaching practice as well as time to reconnect with classmates. Participants can earn up to 4.5 professional development hours.

9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Keynote Address by Briana Morales, Illinois Teacher of the Year
10:15 a.m – noon Sessions 1 and 2
Noon – 1 p.m. Lunch (sandwich buffet, pasta, chips and dessert)
1 – 3 p.m. Sessions 3 and 4

NIU graduate advisors will be available during lunch and in between sessions to share information on master’s programs, certificates and endorsements.

  • Teacher Leader certificates in Reading/Literacy and Social Justice.
  • Endorsements in ESL/BL, Special Education, Early Childhood Education and more.
